Christmas Eve

‘Twas the night before Christmas and we’re at the beach;

the bliss of the season is well within reach.

We’re lucky to have found such a wonderful place

with a hot tub and pool, and plenty of space.

Bear has some caches to hunt and to log,

and Buddha has plans for a quick morning jog,

Jay is crocheting a huge afghan in blue

and Oz has her laptop, and her camera too.

Mick has her project, which is ready to go

and she doesn’t leave home without Alejandro.

Their gifts have been opened, with wrapping strewn ’round

but left back at home where they wait safe and sound.

Santa is traveling through the world on his sleigh,

with stockings for all of us, he’s well on his way!

After a year of transitions, of stresses and strife

it’s nice to sit back to reflect on this life,

the blessings we share on individual days

and the people who’ve touched us in so many ways.

As for me, I am grateful for the joy and the peace,

the ones I have chosen to create family.

And so on this day, when dreams can take flight,

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
